Alongside this, Bahrain and Qatar also released similar statements, notifying the citizens that Shawwal crescent moon sighting did not happen and announcing March 20, Friday as the first day of Eid 2026. In Qatar, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) stated that Thursday marks the 30th and final day of Ramadan, aligning with the wider regional announcement. Before this development, the UAE has already outlined and announced holidays for both public and private sector employees. According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, public sector holidays were announced to be from Thursday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22 with work resuming on Monday, March 23. Whereas the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, announced Eid 2026 holidays for the private sector from Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21. The ministry had also mentioned that if Ramadan completes 30 days, the holidays for the private sector also will be extended to Sunday, March 22. With the confirmation of the date for Eid Al Fitr 2026, preparations have begun and everyone is all set to celebrate with their loved ones.
