Speaking on senior Congress leader Pradyut Bardoloi, who recently joined the BJP, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "I think when a person of a stature like an MP and MLA joins another party, these are the decisions taken by mature people under mitigating circumstances. Congress should introspect what is wrong with them." Hitting out at the Congress party, Sarma said that Bordoloi was with them for so long then why he was not given the ticket adding this means that Congress is a club of corrupt politicians. Speaking on infiltration of Bangladeshi Muslims in the state, Sarma said that no person occupying constitutional office would want Bangladeshis in Assam. "This country doesn’t have enough resources to invite ghuspaithiya (infiltrators) from Bangladesh and these are words of the Supreme Court." Sharing his views on the movie Dhurandhar, Assam Chief Minister said that anything which galvanizes Indian sentiment, the Congress party will say this is RSS. "This (Dhurandhar movie) would motivate youthful India to actually start their journey or sacrifice life for mother India."
