Digvijaya Singh chairs the parliamentary committee to discuss NEET, NTA and CBT vs Pen-and-Paper Exams Congress MP Digvijaya Singh on Monday chaired a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports at the Parliament House Annexe (PHA), where members discussed examination reforms, including the use of pen-and-paper tests versus computer-based tests (CBT), as well as issues concerning NEET and the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA), ANI reported. According to ANI, the committee's first agenda item was the consideration and adoption of the 381st Report on Action Taken by the Government on recommendations contained in the 364th Report on Demands for Grants (2025–26) of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. The panel is also scheduled to meet on Tuesday to review the implementation of On-Screen Marking (OSM) in CBSE Class 12 examinations and discuss concerns raised by students regarding the evaluation process. Members are expected to deliberate on the implementation of the three-language formula for Classes 9 and 10 as well. The discussions come at a time when both NEETUG and CBSE's Class 12 examination processes have come under scrutiny. Last week, members of another parliamentary panel reportedly stressed the need to safeguard the integrity of the NEET UG examination and address vulnerabilities in the testing system while reviewing updates on the ongoing investigation into the alleged paper leak case. NEET UG 2026 was cancelled following the controversy and has since been rescheduled for June 21. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the case, has so far arrested 13 individuals in connection with the alleged leak. CBI Director Praveen Sood and NTA Director General Abhishek Singh recently appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Government Assurances to brief members on the progress of the investigation. Meanwhile, amid criticism of its On-Screen Marking system, CBSE has said it is addressing cybersecurity concerns linked to the OnMark portal used by its service provider. The board stated that cybersecurity experts have been deployed to strengthen the platform and secure the evaluation process.
