Bihar Bans Coaching Classes During School Hours; Institutes To Share Student Details with Authorities
The move comes at a time when concerns have been growing over the increasing number of coaching centres Following the chaos that has been emerging around coaching centres in the state, the Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, has issued several directives regarding operations of a coaching centre. These directions have been issued by the state Education Department in the interest of students. One of the biggest change that has been announced is that no coaching centre will be allowed to schedule a class during school hours. However, this rule will not apply to students who have already completed their regular school education. The Chief Minister shared this information through a post on X. "No coaching institute shall be operated during the prescribed teaching hours for schools and colleges. This arrangement will not apply to those students who have completed their regular school/college education. The Education Department has been directed to prepare regulations in this regard," Choudhary tweeted. The move comes at a time when concerns have been growing over the increasing number of coaching centres and their negative impact on formal schooling. He also announced that all coaching centres will now have to compulsorily provide all details of students studying at their coaching centre with the local administration. "All coaching institutes will be mandatorily required to provide details of the students studying at their premises to the concerned district administration," he said. "Ensuring discipline, transparency, and quality education in the education system is our commitment." All coaching institutes in the state will be required to comply with these regulations. If any coaching institute violates these rules, strict action may be taken against it. These decisions also signal the state government's attempt to bring greater accountability to the largely unregulated coaching industry. Requiring institutes to share details of enrolled students with district authorities could help improve monitoring and ensure compliance with the new norms.
