Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has sought permission from a Mumbai court to surrender in the Salman Khan house firing case, saying it is necessary for a fair trial. Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has approached a special MCOCA court in Mumbai seeking permission to surrender in the 2024 firing case outside actor Salman Khan's residence, saying the move is necessary "in the interest of a fair trial and justice". Anmol, who is currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail, has filed an application before the special court expressing his willingness to voluntarily appear before the Mumbai court and participate in the proceedings. In his plea, Anmol said he wants to take part in the trial to ensure a fair legal process and avoid unnecessary delays. He has requested the court to issue a production warrant so that he can be brought before it either physically or through video conferencing. The gangster was deported from the United States to India in November last year and was subsequently arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a separate case linked to the alleged terrorist-gangster network associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate. Since he remains in judicial custody in the NIA case, Anmol has sought the Mumbai court's intervention to facilitate his appearance in the Salman Khan firing case. According to the application, the trial has already commenced and statements of three prosecution witnesses have been recorded in his absence. The plea argues that permitting him to surrender and participate in the proceedings would help expedite the trial and ensure that the case progresses without legal hurdles. On Thursday, the special MCOCA court directed the prosecution to file its response to Anmol Bishnoi's application. The case relates to the firing outside Salman Khan's residence in Mumbai's Bandra area on April 14, 2024. According to investigators, two bike-borne shooters opened fire outside the actor's home before fleeing the spot. Mumbai Police have alleged that the attack was orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, following which provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) were invoked in the case. The trial is currently underway against five arrested accused. Another accused in the case died while in police custody. Anmol Bishnoi has been named as a wanted accused in the firing case and is among the key figures being investigated for his alleged role in the conspiracy behind the attack. His surrender plea comes as proceedings in the high-profile case continue before the Mumbai court.
