Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi addresses a press conference, at AICC headquarters, in New Delhi Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that INDIA bloc leaders will march to the Supreme Court and file a petition against the Election Commission over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Gandhi asked CEC Gyanesh Kumar to turn approver and resign, saying that the opposition's fight was against the bigger powers that were behind him. "Resign, turn approver; you (Kumar) have made a mistake but you are not the mind behind the mistake... We know Gyanesh Kumar is unable to sleep at night; I am telling him directly 'you will not survive as CEC'", Gandhi said while addressing a press conference at the Indira Bhawan headquarters of the Congress party. Rahul Gandhi described the current protests as "Lord Shiva's Tandav" and asserted that no formal planning was needed for the movement. "My sister says we should plan our way out, but I told her that this is Tandav - Shiva's dance, and there is no planning involved in this. Today we are going to the Supreme Court, tomorrow something else will happen. The idea is perseverance... This is Shiva's Baraat, and anyone can come..." Noting that there was resistance earlier too, but it had not spilled over the streets in the form of protests, the former Congress president said this fight is not going to stop and will continue even if it takes days or years. He also claimed that 200 officers of the government were in "touch with them" and providing them with information. Opposition parties have been protesting since Tuesday and have been demanding the immediate removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The leaders took to the streets on Tuesday when they first marched from Parliament to the Election Commission but were stopped on the way, with Rahul Gandhi staging an eight-hour sit-in inside Akashvani Bhawan complex before being removed. Opposition MPs met for lunch in central Delhi on Wednesday and Thursday, after which they staged a march, first to Jantar Mantar on the first day, and to Rajghat the next day. During the weekend, thousands of protesters, including Cockroach Janta Party leaders and former chief ministers, were detained as the capital turned into a fortress.
