Amit Shah Assam Exclusive: 'BJP Will Form Govt for Third Time With Over 90 Seats'
Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in an exclusive conversation with Times Now during a roadshow in Guwahati, expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will return to power in Assam for a third consecutive term, claiming the party will secure more than 90 seats in the upcoming assembly elections. Shah spoke to Times Now while campaigning for Vijay Kumar Gupta, the BJP candidate from Central Guwahati, during the roadshow. Assam assembly election will be held in single phase on April 9 and the counting of votes is set for May 4. Speaking about the situation in Assam, Amit Shah said that terrorism has ended in the state and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing world class infrastructure to the region. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has emerged as a hub for industry, health and education. Highlighting development at the grassroots level, the Union Home Minister said villages across the state have seen significant progress. According to him, government initiatives supporting industry, agriculture and education have contributed to the growth of rural areas. Today the youth are happy and women feel safe here. Development is taking place through both agriculture and industry in a very good manner. I am fully confident that we will form the government for the third time. We are seeing immense love and support from the people, Shah said. Responding to a question about leaders from other parties joining the BJP and whether it might affect the morale of local party workers, Shah said the party enjoys support across all sections of society. Youth, the elderly, women, farmers, tribals and people from different communities are all with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The atmosphere today clearly shows strong support in favor of the BJP. We will form the government here with more than the required number of seats, he stated. During the roadshow, Amit Shah was seen traveling in the campaign vehicle along with Central Guwahati candidate Vijay Kumar Gupta. He was also accompanied by BJP Assam state president Dilip Saikia and Dispur constituency candidate and political leader Pradyut Bordoloi. The roadshow was part of the BJPs campaign outreach in the state ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
