Sensex Slides Over 800 Points As IT Stocks Infosys, TCS Sink After Accenture Cuts Guidance Both the benchmark indices, the Nifty and the Sensex opened lower by 0.8 percent on Friday, The Nifty opened at 23,991 and the Sensex opened at 76,852. However the Sensex tumbled over 800 points and IT stocks crashed in early trade after Accenture's revenue guidance cut sparked investor concerns across the board about the future of the IT sector. Shares of Infosys tumbled over 7 percent, and TCS shares fell 6 percent, while HCL Tech shares plunged over 5 percent in early trade today. Senior Business Economist and Managing Partner, Talk The Walk LLP, Sanchita Mukherji told Timesnownews.com, "the correction across the Indian IT sector today—triggered by a marginal downward revision in growth guidance from a global tech bellwether—highlights a clear divergence within the market rather than a structural crisis. While the news hit large-cap heavyweights vulnerable to global consulting delays, it exposes the contrast between 'hits and misses' in the current environment. The clear misses lie in big-ticket discretionary enterprise tech spend, which remains tightly paused. However, the hits are visible in robust managed services, long-term vendor consolidation deals, and specialised niche areas. Crucially, this blanket market reaction overlooks a resilient pocket of mid- and small-cap players that continue to demonstrate agility, secure specialised engineering contracts, and outpace the broader sector’s slowing growth engines, indicating that the sector's underlying narrative remains one of transition rather than decline." Asian markets traded mixed as investors have been keeping an eye on just how long will the US-Iran peace deal last, while some believe it can be sustained others are skeptical. Crude oil prices have declined nearly 1 percent, with Brent Crude trading below 80 dollars a barrel (at the time of filing this copy). Experts believe oil has witnessed choppy trade on Friday as investors have been analysing the implications of the US-Iran peace deal.
