A young airman lost his life this week after heavy equipment he was working with rolled down an embankment at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna was killed Thursday in the incident, officials confirmed. He was the only person involved. At this point, investigators have not released details on what type of equipment was involved, and the exact cause of death remains under review. No one else on base was hurt as a result of the accident, the New York Post reported. Eneluna was just 23 years old. Originally from the Philippines, he later relocated to St. Louis, Missouri before joining the military on March 5, 2024. Vandenberg marked his very first assignment in the Air Force. He served as part of a group known informally as the "Dirt Boyz," a title given to pavement and equipment specialists within the Air Force. That team plays a key role in backing up the base's launch, testing, and range operations, according to the report. He added that Eneluna "made a lasting impression on his teammates through his character, dedication, and genuine care for others." Air Force Lt. Col. Seth Poulsen also remembered Eneluna warmly, saying he "brought out the best in everyone." "He was always ready to work, always willing to help, and always had a positive attitude," Poulsen said.
