275 Mizoram Police Recruits Pass Out at Thenzawl After 45 Weeks of Training The Mizoram Police on Friday passed out 275 recruit constables from its 70th batch after completion of 45 weeks of intensive basic training, conducted under a revised curriculum aligned with national standards. The training programme, updated in line with the recommendations of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), brings Mizoram’s police training syllabus at par with the standardized framework followed across the country. To strengthen practical and co-curricular learning, the Ministry of Home Affairs has also upgraded infrastructure at the Police Training School (PTS), Thenzawl, with a state-of-the-art gymnasium, digital laboratory and a Firearms Training Simulator under the Assistance to States for Modernisation of Police (ASUMP) scheme. The Passing Out Parade of the 70th batch (2025–2026) was held at PTS Thenzawl, attended by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma as the chief guest and Home Minister K. Sapdanga as the guest of honour, along with senior police and government officials. The batch, which began training on August 26, 2025 with 277 recruits, saw 275 successfully complete the course. The training covered modern criminal laws, cybercrime, forensic science, public order, human rights and disaster management, alongside rigorous outdoor modules including physical fitness, drill, weapon handling, field craft and tactical operations. Recruits also received computer education and participated in sports and community engagement activities. Top honours during the course included the Governor’s Trophy for all-round best, awarded to Constable F. Lalngaihzuala, while other medals recognised excellence in drill, legal studies, general studies, weapon handling, physical training, shooting and exemplary conduct. Addressing the parade, Chief Minister Lalduhoma congratulated the recruits and urged them to uphold integrity, professionalism and impartiality in service, highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening police training infrastructure. The Director General of Police described constables as the backbone of the force, noting their transformation into disciplined personnel over the 45-week training period. The recruits also took the police oath, pledging to uphold the Constitution and discharge their duties with integrity and dedication.
