A Southwest Airlines flight attendant was found dead in Hawaii last week while on a layover, leaving her family seeking answers as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. Jenny Lupton, 50, of Moore, Oklahoma, was a Southwest Airlines flight attendant who had worked for the airline for more than two decades. She was staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki while on a work layover. According to reports, a hotel employee found Lupton’s body near a dumpster early Thursday, Aug. 20. The Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner told her family that she appeared to have fallen from the balcony of her 24th-floor hotel room. Lupton’s family said they do not believe she died by suicide. Her sister, Tresa Lupton, said the family believes the circumstances could point to an accident or possible foul play. “We just want to know what happened. It doesn’t feel real,” Tresa told KFOR. The family said they were not contacted until about 24 hours after Lupton’s body was found. Lupton had been in Hawaii for work and was planning to stay for several days before returning home. Her sister said Lupton had gone out with another flight attendant friend, danced and had a good time hours before her death. Tresa also said Lupton had recently gotten a tattoo. She was planning to have it colored in after returning home and had intended to get a hibiscus tattoo in honor of her late father. Southwest Airlines confirmed that Lupton died during a layover in Hawaii and expressed condolences to her family and co-workers. The airline said it had offered support to Lupton’s loved ones and was cooperating with local authorities as they investigate her death. Lupton leaves behind her 15-year-old son, Kaleb. Family and friends have remembered her as a joyful and unforgettable person who brought energy to those around her. Her niece, Hannah Lupton, who followed her aunt into the flight attendant profession, described her as “the best aunt anyone could have asked for” and said Lupton inspired her in ways she may never have realized.
