A New Zealand animal sanctuary is calling out to all horse lovers (Credit: Instagram/kindfarm.south) Equestrianism often gets a bad rep for having its nose too high up in the air, though the global community comprising it may just be among some of the most disciplined lot you'll ever meet. What this perception also does, is typically throw a blanket over the bits that don't make it to Instagram reels. You see, caring for a horse is a deeply rustic, ground-level experience, and anyone who's been riding for years will attest to how deeply meditative the whole experience of caring for the equines and steeds are, especially after breaking them in, training with them and on them and then heading back to the stables for some meticulous unwinding. Well, an animal sanctuary in New Zealand is providing the exact same experience - more emphasis on the care and upkeep - a stint that'll allow you to live in the countryside, for free! An animal sanctuary on New Zealand's South Island called Kind Farm is offering volunteers free, on-site accommodations. The catch isn't really one at all. All you'll need to do in exchange is help out in the upkeep of their rescue horse for 4 hours, 5 days a week. While the gig is primarily for the horses on the farm, a typical morning would be spent feeding and caring for the donkeys and other farm animals as well. These include pigs, goat, sheep, as well as the dog helpers Awa, Lola and Scout. If you love animals, this has to sound like one of the most unique forms of therapy simply waiting around for you. Go through the comments and you'll see how strongly past visitors attests to the abject friendliness of both the people and the animals on the farm. Once you wrap up your work, the whole day is yours to either sit in front of the never-ending, spell-binding landscape, or venture out into nearby towns to explore daily New Zealand living in the countryside. If you're someone who really thrives on the hustle and bustle of city life, know that the daily scenery here looks catatonically different. The daily scenery in South Island, especially the Kind Farm, looks very different with even basic spots like grocery stores, hospitals and pharmacies being significantly far-set. Public transport too is way sparser as are the entertainment options. But if peace of mind and a change of pace for the better is what you're looking for, this could pretty much be it!
