Why Travel Influencer Sayan Nath Keeps Going Back To Oman: Deserts, Beaches, Mountains And MoreSep 4, 2026, 18:00 IST
A trip to a middle eastern country does not always mean luxurious skyscrapers, shopping malls and expensive stays. This is the entire gist of a recent reel posted by a travel influencer Sayan Nath. In his reel he talks about Oman, and calls it the most underrated and beautiful country in the Middle East. He has visited Oman twice already so he definitely makes a convincing case. On his first trip, he covered northern Oman, while on his second trip he covered a completely different side of the country in the south, from dramatic deserts and turquoise lagoons to green mountains during monsoon season. What makes Oman especially appealing for Indian travellers is how easy it is to reach. Direct flights from Delhi to Muscat take around 3.5 hours, which makes it a genuinely simple international getaway rather than a long trip commitment. Sayan's first trip focused on northern Oman, where he explored valleys, deserts and beaches, all in one trip. This variety of landscapes is one of the biggest pros of Oman. One day you are driving through rugged mountains and the next day you will be sitting and relaxing beside clear blue waters - that is the duality of Oman. Around Muscat, travellers can explore dramatic coastlines and wadis, while the Hajar Mountains offer excellent viewpoints for hiking and general exploring. Jebel Shams, the highest mountain in Oman, is another major destination for anyone who enjoys panoramic views. If you want to catch a sunset, Oman also offers golden desert dunes, perfect for drives, overnight camping and relaxing. For his second trip, Sayan headed to southern Oman, particularly the Dhofar region, where the country delivers one of its biggest surprises. The area around Salalah is transformed heavily during Khareef monsoon, roughly from June to September. The region that is normally dry turns green and lush during this time. Misty mountains, flowing waterfalls and lush plains replace the otherwise desert scenery. This contrast is what makes southern Oman so interesting. If you want to make your trip even better go to places like Mughsail Beach and Dhofar, also known as the Land of Frankincense. Dhofar gives the region a strong cultural identity too. Oman introduced a new fee-free 14-day tourist visa in August 2026, but Indian passport holders have not yet been added to the list of eligible nationalities, so this particular scheme does not currently apply to Indian travellers. What still works for many Indians is an older and separate arrangement. If you hold a valid visa or residence permit from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan or a Schengen country, you can usually get a 14-day visa on arrival in Oman. Residents who are qualifying for GCC can also enter under certain conditions. If you do not meet any of the above requirements then you need to apply for a standard Oman eVisa before travelling. The rules have shifted more than once this year, so it is worth checking the latest requirements directly before booking rather than assuming anything. Oman definitely deserves more attention from travellers if they are looking beyond the usual Middle Eastern hotspots. Yes, Oman offers mountains, deserts, beaches, lagoons and a greenery filled monsoon season, but additionally, it is also pretty cheap for fuel, stays and overall travelling - all in one country. Oman is gradually shaping up to be one of the more interesting additions to traveller’s bucket lists this year, and we all know by now why.
