Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke with All India Students' Association (AISA) National President Neha Bora. | File photo Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, AISA chief Neha Bora, actor Prakash Raj, lawyer and political activist Prashant Bhushan, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait and other opposition leaders have been invited to join the anti-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) march. The march call has been given by a group called ‘People against SIR’ today, October 23, in various parts of the country including in the national capital, as part of group's "Har hath me Tiranga and Har Gali me Jantar Mantar (In Every Hand the Tricolour and in Every Street a Jantar Mantar)" campaign. Ahead of Friday’s protest call against the ongoing electoral revision of voters in the country, lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan took to X and wrote, "Tomorrow, 23rd October, is Save Democracy Day for the country. As part of this protest, we are doing a march in Palampur as well at 11 a.m. Concerned citizens in this area should join us at the Civil Hospital Palampur." While Abhijeet Dipke and Neha Bora are among student leaders who have been invited to join the protest, however, it is yet to be seen whether they will join the agitation since both of them have signed a "peace bond" when they were detained during a recent protest in the national capital and had assured of not indulging in activities that may threaten peace. Dipke, on October 17, was granted conditional bail and asked to sign a peace bond on Saturday. He was detained moments after he stepped out of his house in Delhi's Jhandewalan area to participate in the CJP's "Lehra Do Tiranga" protest at Connaught Place last week. He was arrested for allegedly violating a peace bond furnished by him on October 10. Meanwhile, in an earlier message, "Call to the Nation… Let’s rise to the Challenge," Bhushan said, "Dear Citizens of this Country, Indian democracy is in a very deep crisis. The electoral process has been hijacked. The voter list has been manipulated. The above-the-law Election Commission has been handpicked to unashamedly and singularly serve PM Modi - Amit Shah." "Youth are on the streets. Many are in prison. The time has come for us - We the People - to pour into the streets and say - Stop the Attack on Our Democracy," he said. "On October 14th, Organisations of Students, Youth, Kisan, Workers, Women, Dalit, Adivasi, Minorities, Disabled, Transgender, etc., met to form a broad alliance under the banner of People Against SIR. They have called for a People’s March on October 23 to restore democracy and create Jantar Mantars all over the country," Bhushan added. "Har hath me Tiranga and Har Gali me Jantar Mantar (In Every Hand the Tricolour and in Every Street a Jantar Mantar)," Bhushan emphasized as he pressed for a protest call for Friday.
