Cine and TV Artistes Association's Upasana Singh and treasurer Nagma Morarji recently claimed victory in an internal leadership and governance dispute. On October 28, they held a press conference in Mumbai. At the press conference, the duo alleged misuse of funds, violations of court orders, and unauthorised administrative decisions. Upasana and Nagma stated that their fight was for the welfare of artists and transparency. Upasana further shared that the legal proceedings have gone in their favour so far. The actress added that their struggle is not for power, but for the truth. Amid CINTAA's ongoing leadership battle, Upasana said, "The struggle... perhaps for them, it is all about holding onto the chair (power), but for us, it is for the truth. Because our only motto is 'Satyameva Jayate' (Truth alone triumphs)." The actress said they will win if they are truthful. "And we have won," she added. According to ANI, Upasana mentioned that both the Dindoshi Court and High Court had given rulings in their favour. The actress spoke about her faith in the judicial system and remained confident about their legal position. She also alleged that the previous committe failed to address main concern of artists like long working hours, lack of conveyance allowances and delayed payments. Amid ongoing battle with Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure, Upasana questioned the utilisation of assocation's money. She also alleged that a constituional rule on welfare spending was ignored. The actress stated that the association earns money through new memberships, yearly dues, interest from fixed deposits and more. At the press conference, Upasana recalled that artists struggling with household costs, school fees and medical care for bedridden parents had approached CINTAA for help. However, she claimed that the concerns were ignored and the money was rather spent on press conferences and other unecessary expenses. She went on to name senior actors Hemant Pandey and Preeti Sapru, besides herself and alleged that they got show-cause notices for not agreeing with the committee's decisions. She further questioned, "What kind of organisation changes elected positions at their personal whim?" Upasana revealed the old committee was legally dissolved when over 50 per cent of members resigned. However, she hasn't resigned till date. "Yet, simply because I accepted the resignations of the outgoing members, they were so enraged that the next day they arbitrarily announced that Padmini Kolhapure was the General Secretary instead of Upasana Singh," she added. Talking about the main dispute, it involves Upasana, Poonam, Padmini and other key members. The main issue is said to be around disagreements over leadership, handling of official records, financial accountability, and more. That said, the CINTAA elections are concluded with Padmini winning it with 604 votes, followed by Poonam with 601 votes. The elections were held on October 20.
