Ayushmann Khurrana, who is currently promoting his upcoming film titled Yeh Prem Mol Liya, received a threatening audio call on November 4 from a person claiming to be part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Amid the ongoing investigation, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a 30-year-old IIT graduate from Bengaluru for allegedly sending threat messages to the actor and demanding money. Reportedly, his name is Vaibhav Mishra, and the unit is bringing him to Mumbai for further interrogation. The motive behind sending the audio threat has not been determined by the police as of now. According to reports, the police suspect the audio threat to be a prank. Further investigation would determine the reason behind the extortion message on Instagram. According to India Today's report, Vaibhav allegedly sent threatening audio messages to many actors and demanded money while mentioning the names of the Bishnoi gang members. Reportedly, preliminary investigations found no evidence of his links to the gang. After Ayushmann received the audio threat, the Mumbai police shared that they were matching the voice of the person's claimed identity with the audio of the accused whose name is already in the police records. The cyber cell was also reportedly tracing the number and location from which the message was sent to Ayushmann. Recently, Tusshar Kapoor also reportedly received a threatening audio message, in which the sender claimed to be Harry Boxxer, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and demanded Rs 5 crore from the actor. However, as per the preliminary investigation, the audio was suspected to be fake. The police initiated an investigation to identify the gang or individual sending these threatening messages and creating fear. In February, Boxer had also reportedly issued similar threats to Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty. However, as per reports, he was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in California. Meanwhile, the Lawrence Bishnoi group also claimed responsibility for the attack on Tiger Shroff, which took place on October 18. Anil Pandit, a representative of the group, shared a social media post saying that they will not spare anyone working in proximity to Salman Khan. Ayushmann and his legal team have not responded to the threat. Further investigation in the case is ongoing. A quintessential Bollywood buff, I keep myself updated with all the latest developments.
