Diljit Dosanjh
Imtiaz Ali’s next directorial, Main Vaapas Aaunga, tells another beautiful love story. Headlined by Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari, the film releases in theatres on June 12. The makers of the pre-Partition love story launched the trailer of the movie at an event in Mumbai. The trailer gives a glimpse of the cinematic experience that has layers of romance and emotions. One of the highlights was its music. Main Vaapas Aaunga follows two timelines. One features Vedang and Sharvari, whereas the other has Naseeruddin along with Diljit. The trailer of Main Vaapas Aaunga introduces Keenu, an old and fragile man who is on his deathbed. He lives with his grandson, played by Diljit. Keenu’s health is critical. His memories are bothering him. He makes a demand to visit Sargodha, a city in present-day Pakistan. When his grandson begins tracing the roots of his final wish, the chapter of a soft, tender and innocent love story between a younger Keenu (Vedang) and Jiya (Sharvari) unfolds. The partition separates them, but he never forgets the beautiful moments spent with her. Even on his deathbed, he is thinking of Jiya. After watching the trailer, the internet noticed Danish Pandor, who shot to fame as Uzair Baloch in the Dhurandhar franchise. Vedang Raina and Sharvari in Main Vaapas Aaunga trailer Like every Imtiaz Ali film, Main Vaapas Aaunga relies heavily on tender emotions. The sentiments are conveyed straight to the heart with impactful and soulful music. Despite having two timelines, the story doesn’t become confusing. Diljit lends his screen presence to elevate the mood of Main Vaapas Aaunga. Vedang and Sharvari make the characters their own. Naseeruddin Shah is the emotional anchor that holds the story together. Main Vaapas Aaunga has A.R. Rahman’s music and Irshad Kamil’s lyrics. The song that features in the song is beautiful and fits the world Imtiaz creates. Calling Main Vaapas Aaunga a personal story of love and longing, the filmmaker said the film looks back from a contemporary point of view at the heartbeats of a dynamic generation. “I feel privileged and grateful to get the chance to work on this story and make this film,” Imtiaz added in a statement. Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment along with Mohit Choudhary, Shibasish Sarkar of Window Seat Films, Main Vaapas Aaunga releases worldwide on June 12.
