Students protesting against mismanagement at Sarvodaya Inter College (Image: X) Lucknow: After the nationwide wave of student-led protests by Gen Z, it was the turn of Gen Alpha to take to the streets. Students of Sarvodaya Inter College in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district staged a protest outside their school over the lack of basic amenities, forcing the district administration to intervene. Holding photographs of Dr BR Ambedkar, the students alleged that despite repeatedly raising their concerns with the school administration, no action had been taken. They claimed the absence of fans, unsafe and faulty electrical wiring, lack of access to clean drinking water, and inadequate seating arrangements were affecting their studies and overall well-being. The protesting students also alleged that the school's principal routinely misbehaves with them. They warned the school administration that the agitation would continue if their demands were not addressed.As the protest intensified, the matter reached the district authorities. District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Rakesh Kumar visited the school, interacted with the students and issued a written assurance that their grievances would be addressed within a stipulated timeline. DIOS Kumar said that we have heard the demands of the students and have assured them that action will be taken. He further said that as per their demands, at least four fans will be installed in every classroom by tomorrow. Also, faulty electrical wiring across the school will be repaired. Kumar also said that the quality and implementation of the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme will be reviewed and improved and desks and benches will be provided to students within a month. He also said that the students demanded an RO water cooler, which will be installed to ensure access to safe drinking water.
