BSF ASI Steno, Head Constable Exam Cancelled At Kanpur, Jaipur Centres, Retest AnnouncedSep 3, 2026, 07:50 IST
The BSF ASI Steno and BSF Head Constable (Ministerial) recruitment examination at the MD Infotech Centre in Kanpur’s Shyam Nagar was scrapped after repeated computer shutdowns caused by technical or electrical faults, according to a TOI report. A retest has now been scheduled for September 18, 2026. The examination centre, reportedly identified by Code 25916, was expected to host 500 candidates in three shifts on Wednesday (September 2). Candidates alleged that entry for the morning shift was slated to begin at 7:30 AM, but it was deferred, with the examination timing pushed to 9 AM. As they sat down for the test, the computers powered down after 15 minutes. When the issue was raised, the staff reportedly repaired the systems, but they again turned off after another 15 to 20 minutes. When the examination could not recommence after about 40 minutes, the candidates were instructed to leave the centre. ADCP East Shiva Singh, according to TOI, said a notice issued by the authorities cancelled examinations scheduled in all three shifts. “At first glance, a technical/electrical fault appears to be the cause, which is being investigated in detail. The examination will be held again on Sept 18. Candidates have been asked to check the official BSF portal for further updates regularly,” the ADCP added. Unsettled by the administrators’ lack of preparedness, over 500 students staged demonstrations outside the test centre, demanding a re-examination. The police and administrative officials soon arrived at the location and brought the situation under control.
