The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards announced its big winners at a glittering ceremony held in Los Angeles' Peacock Theater on September 14. The event was available to viewers in India on JioHotstar on September 15. HBO Max's The Pitt and Hacks lead the pack. The Pitt arrived with 25 nominations, the most of any show this year, becoming one of the strongest contenders. Noah Wyle grabbed his second consecutive win as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the show. This year, his nominations have gone beyond acting, with the actor also recognised in directing and producing categories. The Pitt faced tough competition from Apple TV's Pluribus, which earned 18 nominations and was one of the top contenders in the drama categories too. Rhea Seehorn took home Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work in the series. Elsewhere in the drama acting contests, the other big names included Gary Oldman, Sterling K. Brown and Rufus Sewell. HBO Max's Hacks created history with its record-breaking haul of nominations for its fifth and final season. It followed with 24 nominations, the most Emmy nominations ever for a comedy series in a single year, a new record.
