Tehran: An oil tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday by Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC claimed that the oil tanker was "violating" orders and sought "illegal" passage through the key strait. In a statement published on the IRGC's official news outlet, Sepah News, the naval wing of the IRGC said the Togo-flagged oil tanker, named "Trend", was stopped after it caught fire following the strike. So far, there are no reports of any injuries or casualties in the strike. As per the IRGC, the vessel tried to cross the strait illegally after being "deceived and provoked" by the US Army. The IRGC also reiterated that it is still in control of the Strait of Hormuz and would not allow the passage of "aggressor's" ships.
