Ben Duckett Creates History With Third ODI Ton In Lahore; Achieves Multiple Unprecedented Feat
Ben Duckett created history during the final league stage match of the ongoing tri-series in Pakistan between England and Sri Lanka at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with his second consecutive ton on Thursday (October 29). The England opener registered a stunning knock of 167 runs in just 132 balls as the Harry Brook-led side posted a massive total of 385 on the board, which is the highest in ODI history at the ground. Duckett had scored a ton in England's previous match against hosts Pakistan, where he scored 105 runs off 111 balls as the 2019 World Champions suffered a heartbreaking one-wicket defeat after posting 241 on the board. This is Duckett's third ODI in Lahore after an incredible 143-ball 165 against Australia in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Duckett has become the first-ever player from a visiting team to score three ODI centuries at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium. In fact, no non-Pakistani player has scored as many tons at a single ground in Pakistan before. Moreover, Duckett now has the joint-most centuries in Lahore, with no home team also reaching the three-figure mark more times than him. Quite incredibly, Duckett's knock did not hit a single six in his innings. His tally of 167 runs is the second-highest individual score in ODI cricket history without a maximum after David Warner's 173 against South Africa in 2016 at Cape Town. Overall, Duckett has scored 475 runs in four innings at Lahore at an average of 118.75. Among players to score 400 or more runs at the venue, his average is the second-best behind MS Dhoni (404 runs at 134.66). Meanwhile, the English star has played seven ODIs in Pakistan and has 573 runs while averaging 81.85. Among players with 500 or more runs in the country, only Dhoni (546 runs at 136.5) averages better.
