Digital Highway Billboards Hacked In Multiple Countries, Porn Videos Replace AdvertisementsNov 2, 2026, 13:11 IST
Hackers identified thousands of vulnerable systems in around two hours. Digital billboards in several countries have been hacked. The hackers reportedly replaced regular advertisements with pornographic videos on large public screens. The incidents reported in Egypt, Malaysia and Brazil, have raised fresh concerns about the security of remotely connected internet-connected systems. One of the big incidents took place on Cairo's 26th of July Axis, one of Egypt's busiest highways. A large digital billboard suddenly started displaying sexual footage. Several drivers reportedly stopped their vehicles to record the incident, and videos of the hacked screen soon started circulating on social media. According to CNN, footage shared online showed messages reading "Leaked by: Ch, 19ylegal never and nivex" along with a Telegram channel's username, @LeakersGov. Egypt's Interior Ministry said the billboard belonged to an advertising company working with an international firm. The ministry said the international company's website had been targeted in a cyberattack, resulting in unauthorised footage appearing on screens in several countries simultaneously. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings in the matter. The hacking case was not limited to Egypt. In Malaysia, several public LED screens in Kluang, Johor, reportedly displayed obscene content. The local municipal council confirmed the incident and switched off the affected screens. In Brazil, an LED display near the BR-343 highway in Campo Maior also showed explicit footage. The company operating the screen confirmed a cyberattack and filed a police complaint. A hacking group operating through a Telegram channel called Leakers$ has claimed responsibility for the incidents. As reported by CNN, the group said it exploited vulnerabilities in the software used to remotely send content to LED displays. According to the report, the hackers claimed that they identified thousands of vulnerable systems in around two hours through automated scanning. The group said its intention was not to demand ransom or donations but to expose security weaknesses in digital advertising infrastructure.
