Deepinder Goyal Claims Temple Beats Apple Watch Series 12 In Heart Rate TrackingNov 2, 2026, 09:50 IST
Eternal founder Deepinder Goyal's Temple wearable is now available for pre-booking in India. And as the company begins accepting orders for its first batch, the company CEO has made a big claim on social media platform X about the device's heart rate tracking accuracy. According to him, Temple can track heart rate more accurately than some of the leading wearables in the market, including the Apple Watch Series 12. The company has also shared its research findings to explain why it believes its head-worn wearable has an advantage over traditional smartwatches and fitness trackers. Goyal shared the the results of an internal study conducted by Temple on X. He said one of the company's missions is to build the ultimate wearable for elite performance athletes. "All the other leading wearables were well behind Temple in our study. Apple Watch Series 12 came closest. Temple also beat the untaped chest strap, the industry's benchmark, in zones 4 and 5," Goyal said. To test its accuracy, Temple compared its wearable with five flagship devices, including the Apple Watch Series 12, Garmin FR970, Fitbit Air, WHOOP MG and Oura Ring 5. The company used a Polar H10 chest strap as the reference device to check the accuracy of heart rate readings. However, Temple taped the chest strap to the user's chest instead of wearing it normally. Goyal explained that regular chest straps can sometimes lose contact during sprints and miss heartbeats. The devices were tested from resting conditions to maximum exercise intensity, with readings compared second by second. According to Temple's findings, its wearable recorded the lowest measurement error across different heart rate zones. The Apple Watch Series 12 came closest to Temple among the five competing wearables, but it still recorded a higher error. The difference was particularly noticeable during high-intensity workouts. Temple reported an average error of just 1.14 beats per minute (BPM) in Zones 4 and 5. Goyal also claimed that the device performed better than a regular, untaped Polar H10 chest strap in these two zones. For professional athletes, these readings are important as heart rate Zones 4 and 5 represent high-intensity exercise, where the heart works harder during activities such as sprinting and intense training. Goyal has given two main reasons behind the results. 1. Temple uses adhesive, so its lab condition is its wear condition. You'll experience our study outcomes in real life. 2. The location. Your temple sits right over a major artery, and it's the one patch of skin that doesn't clamp down its blood flow when you go hard. We tested the same sensor at four body sites. The temple was the most accurate of the four. While the company has published its research paper and data on its website, these findings are based on its internal study. Temple has confirmed that an extended study by independent researchers is underway.
