Gunshot, Kirpans: Clash Inside Germany Gurdwara Leaves 11 Injured - VIDEO
Berlin: At least 11 people were reportedly injured after a violent clash broke out inside a gurdwara in Moers, near Duisburg in Germany, on Monday. Several videos of the violent clash filmed inside the religious place also surfaced online. These videos show two groups were engaged in a fierce clash using sharp objects, including swords. Around 40 people were involved in the incident, reported German newspaper Bild. After receiving the information, a large-scale police deployment was made in the area. Some witnesses even claimed that apart from the sharp-edged weapons, pepper spray and even firearms were also used in the clash. The exact reason that led to the clash is not known. An investigation has been launched into the matter. The preliminary probe pointed towards the election of a new management committee. Reports claimed that disagreement over management of funds during the election escalated to violent altercation. Witnesses told German newspaper Bild that a pistol was fired during the confrontation, though initial findings suggest it may have been a blank-firing weapon, as the firearm has not yet been recovered. Police, including special tactical units, were deployed to the scene in a major response. Some people present inside the gurdwara fled as soon as the clash erupted. According to reports, no one received life threatening injuries. At least one suspect was taken into custody by the police. Two Indian nationals were shot dead in northern Italy late Friday night in what authorities suspect may have been a targeted attack. According to local media reports, the incident took place in the town of Covo, located in Bergamo province. The victims had just exited a warehouse being used as a place of worship for a Vaisakhi gathering when they were attacked. The incident cast a shadow over Vaisakhi celebrations in the region.
