Fresh controversy has erupted after Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi reportedly announced that Iran’s parliament is reviewing a proposal that would reward anyone who kills US President Donald Trump. Iranian opposition news outlet Iran International reported that according to Azizi, who heads the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, lawmakers drafted several new measures following the March war, including a bill titled “Counter-Action by the Military and Security Forces of the Islamic Republic.” Azizi said the proposed legislation would require the Iranian government to pay €50 million to any “natural or legal person” who carries out what he described as a “religious and ideological mission” against Trump. “We believe the vile president of the United States, the ominous and disgraceful Zionist prime minister, and the CENTCOM commander must be targeted and subjected to reciprocal action,” Azizi said during remarks aired on Iranian state television. He also referenced retaliation for the killing of Iranian leaders and commanders, stating that “the president of the United States must be dealt with by any Muslim or free person.” The reports about a possible “$54 million bounty” appear to stem from the €50 million figure mentioned by Azizi, which converts to roughly $54 million USD depending on exchange rates. The remarks come amid a broader campaign targeting Trump. Earlier this year, Iranian mobile users reportedly received mass text messages promoting what was described as an “international campaign to reward the assassination of Trump.” Recipients were allegedly encouraged to register support online and confirm participation through SMS. Tehran-based outlet Didban Iran claimed the campaign gathered nearly 290,000 supporters and around $25 million in pledged funds. Separately, pro-regime outlet Masaf previously reported that $50 million had been secured for a “Kill Trump” campaign. The hacking group Handala also claimed it had allocated $50 million toward the “elimination” of Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump has faced repeated threats linked to Iran since he ordered the 2020 killing of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC Quds Force, in Iraq.
