Auqib Nabi might get his debut India call-up vs Afghanistan. India are all set to take on Afghanistan in a one-off Test match that is set to take place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. A lot of people expected Auqib Nabi to be called up to the squad for this Test match, especially after his exceptional season for Jammu and Kashmir, as they won their historic first Ranji Trophy title. However, his name was not on the list when the squad was announced. But it now looks like there might be a chance for him to be included in the 15-member squad, especially after an injury scare to star pacer Mohammed Siraj. Mohammed Siraj suffered a slight knock on his shoulder while bowling for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2026 final vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In spite of this, he has travelled to Mullanpur to train with the team. However, the BCCI medical team is constantly monitoring the situation. If a situation arises where Siraj has to miss the Test, Auqib Nabi will be drafted in, sources close to the proceedings have informed Sports Now. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer had earlier been called up as a net bowler before the Test match alongside 6 others -Gurjapneet Singh, Prince Yadav, Saransh Jain, Zeeshan Ansari, and Shivang Kumar. Even though Auqib Nabi might be drafted into the India squad for the Test match against Afghanistan, he might have to wait for his debut in case Mohammed Siraj does not play. According to sources, it will be Gurnoor Brar, who will make his debut for India in that case.
