Tumbbad 2 Update: Team Is Tracking Monsoon Patterns To Capture It Authentically Tumbbad, which starred Sohum Shah in the lead role, remains one of India's most iconic horror films. Among its many highlights, the 2018 Rahi Anil Barve directorial is remembered for its haunting setting, where the constant rain became an integral part of the story. The relentless showers made the world of this Indian mythological horror even darker and more immersive. And, it is safe to say that the rain became a character in itself. For the sequel, the makers are reportedly planning to recreate the same magic. They are even said to be changing shooting schedules and scouting remote locations to ensure the film is shot in natural rainfall. While Tumbbad was filmed across four monsoons, the sequel is reportedly undergoing multiple schedule changes to capture real rain once again. The makers are leaving no stone unturned to recreate the unforgettable atmosphere that made the first film so distinctive. According to sources, the production has completely reworked its filming plans due to an unusually erratic monsoon season. With rainfall patterns becoming increasingly unpredictable across Maharashtra, the makers are reportedly tracking weather systems in real-time and adjusting schedules to regions receiving the heaviest downpours. Insiders also suggest that the team has chosen not to rely on large-scale artificial rain setups, preferring to capture natural rainfall to maintain the authenticity associated with Tumbbad, while also being mindful of broader concerns around water usage amid ongoing shortages in several regions. The team has reportedly moved deeper into the interiors of Maharashtra, scouting remote, rain-soaked locations that can recreate the immersive world audiences associate with Tumbbad. Reaching these spots is said to be a challenge in itself, with the cast and crew reportedly undertaking treks of nearly two to three hours through dense terrain before arriving on set. “The irony is that while Tumbbad became famous for being shot across four monsoons, for Tumbbad 2 the team is actually chasing the monsoon,” said a source close to the film. They added, “Rain has always been an important character in the world of Tumbbad and the makers are determined to capture it authentically." The source also revealed that some locations were shortlisted specifically because they were receiving heavier rainfall than others. Sohum Shah is headlining the film, which is being bankrolled under his banner. Nawazuddin Siddiqui will also be seen in a key role in the film. Filmmaker Adesh Prasad is helming the sequel. Tumbbad 2 is set to release in theatres on December 3, 2027.
