Why Bigil Producer Archana Kalpathi Deliberately Avoided Approaching Thalapathy Vijay Producer Archana Kalpathi is one of Tamil Nadu chief minister Thalapathy Vijay's biggest admirers. Recently, she shared an interesting take on why she did not meet Vijay for the longest time despite her family sharing a close bond with him. Speaking about their first collaboration on Bigil, the AGS Entertainment producer revealed that she believed in the saying, 'Never meet your heroes,' worried if her reality would never match the admiration she had built over the years. However, working alongside Vijay completely changed this. Archana Kalpathi praised the actor's humility, discipline and dedication, calling him as someone who not only lived up to her expectations but exceeded them during the making of the blockbuster sports drama. Speaking to Touring Talkies, Archana Kalpathi revealed that although her father, AGS Entertainment founder Kalpathi S. Aghoram, shared a cordial relationship with Thalapathy Vijay, she consciously stayed away from meeting the actor. "They say, 'Never meet your heroes,' and I believed in that saying. We often build an ideal image of our heroes in our minds, but as human beings, it's difficult for anyone to live up to those expectations. So I deliberately avoided meeting Vijay sir, even though he would visit our home to meet my father or my father would meet him. There were several discussions about collaborating, but they never materialised. In fact, my husband had met Vijay sir more often than I had before we made our first film together," she said. The Film Which Changed Archana Kalpathi's Perception of Vijay That first film finally came with Bigil (2019), directed by Atlee. Produced by AGS Entertainment, the sports drama featured Vijay in dual roles as Michael Rayappan and football coach Bigil and went on to become one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the year. Archana admitted that working with Vijay completely changed her long-held belief. "Only when I started working with him did I realise that he's one of those rare people who actually live up to your expectations and even surpass them. I was amazed by his ethics, discipline and, above all, his simplicity. He's incredibly down-to-earth. He carries his own umbrella and doesn't surround himself with an entourage. He genuinely loves cinema and always works to give his best," she said. Recalling the making of Bigil, Archana praised Vijay's dedication and professionalism. She revealed that he learnt the football movements himself instead of relying on a body double, arrived on set punctually every day and always prepared well in advance by studying the dialogue sheets. Following the success of Bigil, AGS Entertainment reunited with Vijay for The Greatest of All Time (2024), directed by Venkat Prabhu, marking the banner's second collaboration with the actor.
