Emraan Hashmi's much-awaited Awarapan 2 has finally cleared its censor process ahead of the film’s theatrical release. However, it is not without several modifications mandated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The upcoming Nitin Kakkar action thriller has been awarded a U/A 16+ certificate, making it one of the few major Hindi releases in recent weeks to avoid an Adults Only rating. According to reports, the CBFC's Examining Committee directed the makers of Awarapan 2 to implement a series of changes before granting certification, which included the addition of disclaimers related to drug abuse and child trafficking – themes which have been explored in the film's plot. A smoking disclaimer and ticker have also been deemed necessary during scenes featuring tobacco consumption, in line with existing regulations. Certain words deemed obscene have also been asked to be replaced in both the film's audio track and subtitles. Apart from these modifications, the CBFC has sought changes to some of the film's more graphic sequences. Reportedly, a violent scene in the second half has been trimmed by 50 per cent, while extreme violence in three separate scenes has been removed altogether. The board also directed the deletion of a sequence midway through the film that showed a character snorting drugs. The end credits were also revised to ensure they align correctly with the background music. The film received its censor certificate on August 5, with a certified runtime of 140 minutes and 20 seconds. Reports suggest that the CBFC ordered approximately 4 minutes of deletions along with 20 seconds of replacements, resulting in a final approved runtime of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
