Not Animal Park, Ranbir Kapoor To Kickstart Brahmastra 2 With Alia Bhatt Post Ramayana; Deepika Padukone In Talks To Join - ReportAug 19, 2026, 21:18 IST
Ranbir Kapoor to reportedly start Brahmastra 2 after Ramayana According to Pinkvilla, Ayan Mukerji and his team are actively working on Brahmastra 2. The scripting and preparation are said to be underway, with Ranbir Kapoor expected to start shooting in April 2027 once he completes work on Ramayana: Part Two. In the first film, he played Shiva, a young man who discovers his connection with the powerful Astras. The second chapter is expected to focus on Dev, a key character introduced in the first film. The report claims that Ranbir will take on a dual role by playing both Shiva and Dev, while Alia Bhatt will reprise her role as Isha. Ayan had earlier spoken about continuing the Brahmastra story, while Ranbir himself confirmed in February that the second film was happening and that work was progressing. According to the latest report, Ayan Mukerji has started discussions with Deepika Padukone for the role of Amruta, a character connected to Dev and Shiva. She had a brief appearance as Amruta in Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva, although the character was not explored in detail. The makers are said to be keen to have Deepika on board because the role requires considerable screen presence and emotional weight. However, discussions are still underway, and there is no official confirmation of the same. If Deepika does join the sequel, Brahmastra 2 could bring together Ranbir, Alia, and Deepika in a major fantasy franchise. Ranbir and Deepika have previously shared the screen in films including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tamasha. Before returning to the Astraverse, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in a couple of big-budget films. He plays Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, which is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release. He recently revealed that Ramayana: Part Two is already around 50 per cent complete and is on track for a Diwali 2027 release. Ranbir is also part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, which stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal alongside him. The film is slated to release in January 2027 after facing multiple delays. Interestingly, Ranbir recently dismissed reports that he was part of Dhoom 4. During the promotion of Ramayana at San Diego Comic-Con, he said his current focus was on Ramayana and Love & War. However, an update on the much-anticipated Animal Park, a sequel to Animal, is still awaited. Fascinated by the written word, I found my calling in storytelling.
