According to him, the iPhone maker has the opportunity to make its devices more powerful, improve the intelligence of its software and create a better environment for developers and users. The CEO of Epic Games also pointed to what he believes Apple should focus on as it begins this new phase. Sweeney said the company should grow by bringing computing more meaningfully into people’s lives and creating more value through its own efforts. He also touched on one of the biggest points of conflict between the two companies -- Apple’s tightly controlled ecosystem. Sweeney said he grew up with the early Apple experience associated with Steve Wozniak, where computers gave people the freedom to start programming, create software and share it with others. He argued that privacy and security can exist alongside stronger competition between app stores, payment systems and other services. His comments are important because Epic Games has been one of Apple’s strongest critics over its App Store rules and business practices.
