The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has extended the registration deadline for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. Candidates who have not yet submitted their applications can now register until October 19 through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS). IIT Kharagpur is the organising institute for JAM 2027. The computer-based entrance examination will be conducted on February 14, 2027, for admission to postgraduate programmes at the IITs and other participating institutions. JAM 2027 will be used for admission to programmes including MSc, MSc-PhD, MSc-MTech, Joint MSc-PhD, PhD dual degree and Integrated PhD programmes. According to the official JAM website, all 23 IITs are offering admission to 89 postgraduate programmes through the examination for the 2027-28 academic session. The examination will be held in two sessions and will cover seven test papers. Candidates can appear for a maximum of two test papers. The JAM 2027 question paper will include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. The examination is scheduled to be conducted across around 114 cities in India. There will be no international examination centres for JAM 2027. Candidates can apply through the official JAM website and will have to provide their personal and academic details, select their test paper preferences, upload the required documents and pay the application fee. For General and OBC candidates, the application fee is Rs 2,000 for one test paper and Rs 2,700 for two papers. Female candidates and those belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories have to pay Rs 1,000 for one paper and Rs 1,350 for two papers. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate degree, or are appearing for their final undergraduate examination in 2027, are eligible to appear for JAM 2027, subject to the admission requirements of the respective institute. There is no age limit or restriction on the number of attempts. The JAM 2027 result is scheduled to be announced on March 18, 2027.
