Both the Nifty and the Sensex began the trading day on a flat note. The Nifty opened at 22,603.25 and the Sensex opened at 72,508.05. Most sectoral indices traded with marginal gains in early trade, besides auto and IT. The Indian rupee opened at 96.32 to the dollar versus Monday's close of 96.29 to the dollar. Crude oil prices remained steady, with Brent Crude at 100 dollars per barrel (at the time of filing this copy) as Middle Eastern crude exports and a G7 emergency stockpile release eased supply concerns, however attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on Saudi targets kept investors on the edge. G. Chokkalingam Head of Research at Equinomics Research told Times Now Digital, "the domestic stock market is likely to remain weak today and for the rest of the week. Roadblocks in finalising the trade deal with the US, continued firmness in crude oil prices and market expectation of a rate hike by the RBI is likely to dampen the market sentiment today."
