India's economy remains on a strong growth path despite an uncertain global environment, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Monday. Speaking at the Indian Foundation for Quality Management Symposium 2026, Chandrasekaran highlighted strong domestic demand, services exports and favourable policies as key growth drivers. Chandrasekaran said India had consistently exceeded expectations in recent years and remained on a strong growth path. He also pointed to healthy foreign exchange reserves, strong demand across sectors and improved banking-sector health as signs of economic resilience. Chandrasekaran also cited a current account deficit consistently below 1 percent of GDP, services exports at about 11 percent of GDP, strong foreign exchange reserves and healthy bank non-performing assets as indicators supporting the positive outlook. He said India's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision would require inclusive and sustainable development supported by world-class infrastructure, strong institutions and intellectual property. For sustaining growth over the long term, energy security, advanced and precision manufacturing jobs and investment in human capital would be critical, he said. Speaking about the Viksit Bharat 204 7 vision, he said that it would require inclusive and sustainable development built on world-class infrastructure, institutions and intellectual property. "... All three will be critical," he stated. Chandrasekaran, was recently handed his third five-year term as Tata Sons Chairman amid an intense boardroom battle. Experts believe the comments come at a significant time, with Tata Sons continuing to navigate regulatory, governance and corporate-structure matters, including its proposed listing. The company has been considering the regulatory and other requirements linked to a potential public listing, following the Reserve Bank of India’s decision on its regulatory status. The developments have also brought attention to Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata and governance-related matters concerning Tata Sons.
