US Military Deaths in Iran War Higher Than Pentagon First ReportedOct 10, 2026, 23:58 IST
US President Donald Trump and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. The Pentagon has admitted that more U.S. troops have died in operations against Iran than it had been telling the public. Late Friday, officials updated their official numbers to add two deaths that were left out before. The Defense Casualty Analysis System, known as DCAS, is the military’s public database for tracking losses. As of today, it lists 21 troop deaths tied to the Iran operations. The number of wounded service members now stands at 865. The two added deaths were not combat related. One was Maj. Sorffly Davius, 46, an Army National Guard member who died in Kuwait on March 6. The other was a Navy service member who died by suicide in September and has not been publicly named, according to a U.S. official who spoke with the Washington Post. Adding Seibel brings the total number of troops who have died in the Middle East since Feb. 28, when the Iran operations began, to 22. Friday’s update shows the database was missing deaths. They said there is no excuse for a mistake this large. They also said it is embarrassing for the military that Congress had to step in before the numbers were fixed.
