Delhi AQI Today
Overnight rain brought a change in weather across Delhi-NCR, bringing down temperatures and adding a chill to the air. The showers also brought some relief from pollution, with Delhi's air quality improving to the Moderate category on Friday morning. Late-night visuals from areas around Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station and Jamia Millia Islamia showed rain-soaked roads as steady showers continued across the city. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 133 at 4 am on Friday. This was a significant improvement from Wednesday and Thursday, when the AQI remained above 200 in the Poor category. At 6 am, Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 86, placing it in the Satisfactory category. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a yellow alert for Delhi and adjoining NCR districts on October 29, forecasting rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 to 48 hours. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in New Delhi, rain and thunderstorm activity was expected across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. The forecast included generally cloudy skies, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning. Isolated areas could also receive heavy rain during the night. The wet spell is expected to continue on October 30, with very light to light rain likely in several areas. Moderate showers may occur during the morning and forenoon. However, weather conditions are expected to improve over the weekend. The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies on October 31, followed by mainly clear weather on November 1 and 2. No weather warnings are in place for these days. The overnight showers have brought temporary relief from pollution, but air quality levels across the city will need to be monitored over the coming days.
