Your next visit to Dubai is about to get a golden upgrade! The Dubai Gold District in Deira is getting ready to open what it says will be the world's first and longest walkway made of 24-carat gold. The attraction is scheduled to open before the end of 2026, and officials have said it could be ready within the next two months. So, if Dubai is on your travel list this winter, here is one more experience to add to your itinerary. The striking walkway will let residents and visitors stroll along a shimmering golden path in one of the city's key gold-trading areas. The idea first came up in January 2026, when developer Ithra Dubai launched the Dubai Gold District and announced plans for a "Gold Street", a street built using gold, as the main attraction of the new destination. At the time, the developer said details would be shared in phases. For now, the exact length of the walkway, its cost and a confirmed opening date have not been made public. What is clear is that the project is meant to boost Dubai's appeal as a global tourist destination and highlight its long-standing reputation as an international hub for gold and jewellery. The UAE is already the world's second-largest physical gold trading destination. According to Gulf Today, Rashid Al Harmoudi, Senior Director of the Commercial Sector at the Dubai Gold District, said, "Since the beginning of the year, Dubai Gold District has recorded a 20 percent increase in the number of wholesale gold trading offices operating there, alongside a 15 percent rise in the number of new stores selling gold, jewellery, precious stones and luxury watches. Expansion work is underway in the district to meet growing demand from companies in the gold and jewellery trade seeking to base their operations there." Al Harmoudi also shared plans for an exhibition that aims to become the biggest gold and jewellery trade event in the Middle East. The district sits in Deira, the old trading heart of Dubai, close to Dubai Creek. You can pair a walk on the golden path with some jewellery shopping, a ride across the creek on an abra (traditional wooden boat) and a stop at the nearby spice souk. Since the opening date is not fixed yet, keep an eye out for official updates before you travel. The cooler months between November and March are also the best time to explore this part of the city on foot. The gold walkway will add to Dubai's ever-evolving list of luxury experiences for tourists and locals, and offer a closer look at its thriving gold and jewellery trade. Whether you plan to shop or simply soak in the sparkle, this is one walk you won't want to miss!
