UP CM Yogi Adityanath announces 50% bus fare concession for re-NEET aspirants Ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced a 50 per cent concession in fares on state-run buses for candidates appearing for the exam. As reported by PTI, the announcement came during a review meeting on arrangements for the re-NEET examination. According to the Chief Minister, nearly 3.5 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the test across 59 districts in Uttar Pradesh, making it one of the largest examination exercises in the state this year. Under the new measure, candidates travelling by buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will be eligible for a 50 per cent fare concession upon producing their re-NEET admit cards. The move is expected to ease travel-related challenges for students, especially those travelling long distances to reach their designated examination centres. In addition to travel relief, Adityanath directed district administrations to make arrangements for temporary accommodation for candidates who may need to travel to districts other than their own and lack lodging facilities, reports PTI. The state government’s decision aims to ensure that logistical constraints do not become an obstacle for aspirants appearing for one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations. Officials have been instructed to coordinate with local authorities to facilitate smooth arrangements for students arriving from different parts of the state. Emphasising the need to uphold the sanctity and transparency of the examination process, the Chief Minister instructed officials to strictly follow guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET examination. Adityanath also directed authorities to closely monitor social media platforms and take swift action against rumours, misinformation, and misleading content related to the examination. The NEET UG 2026 re-examination is being conducted amid heightened scrutiny following concerns over the conduct of the exam earlier this year. With lakhs of candidates set to appear on June 21, states across the country have been rolling out special measures to support students and ensure a smooth, fair, and transparent examination process.
