The left-arm spinner took a four-fer as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 284 in response to India's score of 462. Suthar made the SL batsmen dance to his tune in the second innings and took a six-fer for 55 runs as India bowled out the home team for 206 to register a 165-run win. Suthar, who bowled with the new ball in the fourth innings, removed SL opener Lahiru Udara and didn't let Pasindu Sooryibandara score a run. The left-arm spinner also dismissed Sonal Dinusha, who slammed a century in Sri Lanka's first innings. Apart from taking a 10-fer, Suthar also played his part with the bat by scoring 33 runs. Hanuma Vihari was all praise for Suthar following his heroics and said that his bowling was among the reasons behind India's win. "One of the main reasons India won against Sri Lanka was Manav Suthar's bowling. Not because of his wickets, he was taking them anyway, but the way he was bowling. He has everything a very impressive spinner needs. For a spinner, if the wrist position is correct, then turn is obtained. If the body is moving towards the batter and the entire body is behind the ball, then drift and turn are also there. If you observe another thing, his bowling action is diagonal," Vihari said. "After coming into the action, he stays close to the crease, so his entire direction is towards the stumps. His major dismissals are LBW and bowled because he attacks the stump line. That is his biggest strength, and his action is also very fluent. I think he will be one of the best bowlers in Test cricket in the future," the out-of-favour India batter added. The visitors are unlikely to go into the second Test with an unchanged playing XI. The second and final Test of the series will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club from August 23 to 27.
