Spider-Man Brand New Day Is Now Highest Grossing Movie Of All Time, Dethrones Star Wars The Force AwakensSep 16, 2026, 22:36 IST
Spider-Man Brand New Day is now the highest grossing movie of all time The Force Awakens had held the record for more than a decade, but Brand New Day has now rewritten the domestic box office history books. The film has also become only the second movie ever to cross the $900 million mark domestically. The film has been on an extraordinary theatrical run since its release in late July. Brand New Day opened to $360 million in North America and $932 million globally, before crossing the $1 billion worldwide mark within just six days. It reached $2 billion globally after three weekends, becoming the second-fastest film to achieve the milestone. The movie also became the fastest to reach $700 million, $800 million and $900 million domestically, doing so in 13, 19 and 36 days respectively. Globally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has earned $2.45 billion, placing it among the biggest films in worldwide box office history. With the domestic record now secured, attention has shifted to whether Spider-Man: Brand New Day can become the first movie to cross $1 billion at the North American box office. However, its current theatrical momentum may make that milestone difficult without a potential re-release. Four years after Doctor Strange’s spell erased Peter Parker (TomHolland) from everyone’s memory, Spider-Man finds himself living a lonely life while battling street crime and a disturbing mutation caused by his spider DNA. His world changes when Jean Grey enters the picture, leading Peter to confront the DODC and her traumatic past. Teaming up with The Punisher, Peter tries to save Jean rather than see her become another victim. In the climactic battle, he takes a bullet meant for Jean, who uses her powers to keep him alive, setting the stage for Peter’s recovery and continued journey as Spider-Man.
