Now the first attempt will be held around March, while the second attempt will be held around May. Starting from now, both attempts of the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) will now be held after the Class 12 board examination, the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra (State CET Cell, Mumbai) announced. Earlier, the two attempts were scheduled for December 2026 and April 2027. However, the CET Cell claimed that following feedback from parents, counsellors and educationists, both the attempts will now be held after the class 12 board examinations, i.e. first attempt will be held around March, while the second attempt will be held around May. It was announced that while the CET cell is yet to declare a final schedule, both attempts are likely to be held between March and May, at least four weeks apart. For results, a candidate’s best score of the two will be considered for admission. As per the original schedule, the first attempt was supposed to take place in December 2026 and the second attempt was scheduled for April 2027. “However, before finalisation of the schedule, the higher and technical education department of the state as well as the CET Cell received several representations stating that the timing of the first attempt of the CET is very close to the Class12 examination, which is likely to cause difficulties for candidates to manage studying for both exams,” said an official from the CET Cell. Due to this, the CET Cell decided to hold both attempts after the Maharashtra State Board’s Class 12 exams. The state introduced the two-attempt system for MHT-CET in November 2025 to bring the exam in line with national-level entrance tests such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The move also gives students an opportunity to improve their scores and reduces the pressure associated with a single high-stakes test. Since the decision was announced late, both attempts for the 2025-26 academic year were conducted in April and May.
