The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the University of Turku, Finland, and will provide the educators with first-hand exposure to teaching methodologies and educational practices followed in the country. The teachers selected for the programme are recipients of the State Best Teacher Award, according to a PTI report. As part of the programme, the teachers will visit Turku and Rauma, where they will participate in classroom observations, educational site visits and interactions with educators at Early Childhood Education Centres and Teacher Training Schools. The programme will focus on foundational learning, digital learning tools, leadership and mentoring skills. It will also introduce teachers to approaches aimed at creating innovative school environments with greater emphasis on learning, happiness and student well-being. Following the programme, the teachers will develop school-based projects based on their learnings from the Finnish education system. These projects will then be implemented in their respective schools, as per a PTI report. The award-winning teachers will also serve as resource persons and mentors for other teachers at the district and mandal levels. They will help adapt relevant Finnish practices to the educational environment of Andhra Pradesh. Human Resource Minister Nara Lokesh said teachers play an important role in shaping students and the future of the state. He emphasised the importance of providing educators with the knowledge, skills and international exposure needed to bring new ideas into government schools.
