Fans travelling to Baku for the 2026 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix have one less thing to worry about now. The Azerbaijani government has rolled out a temporary visa-on-arrival facility to make entry easier for those who are coming to watch the race. The race is set to take place on September 26, 2026 and this simplified visa process is meant to help fans get in and out of the country without the usual paperwork delays. The visa-on-arrival window opened on August 25, 2026, and will stay open until September 30, 2026. Meaning, travellers will get a full month of easier entry with a few extra days after the race to explore Baku and the rest of the country before the facility closes. This is not a visa-on-arrival for all tourists. It is specifically meant for people connected to the Formula 1 event. To be eligible, a traveller needs to show one of the following at the border: Basically, if you are heading to Baku purely as an F1 fan with a ticket in hand or you are a part of the racing teams, media, or event staff with accreditation, you qualify for this quicker entry option. Since the visa-on-arrival stays valid till September 30, fans don't have to rush back home right after the chequered flag. There is a decent window to take some time off and see what Baku and Azerbaijan have to offer. Within the city, the Old City area is definitely worth a walk, with its narrow lanes, old fortress walls, and centuries-old buildings sitting right next to Baku's shiny modern skyline.
