Qais Ahmed's Hilarious Fake Injury Act Steals The Show As Afghanistan Pulls Off Heroic Draw vs Bangladesh
Qais Ahmed's act went viral on social media |Courtesy - screengrab Qais Ahmed brought back memories of Gulbadin Naib's time-wasting act in the 2024 T20 World Cup as Afghanistan pulled off a heroic draw against Bangladesh in the one-off match between the two teams at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The hosts batted out 142 overs to ensure they avoided defeat in the battle between the Asian teams. Qais ensured the top order's stunning effort, especially Sediqullah Atal's knock, did not go in vain. He walked out to bat at number nine and remained unbeaten after making 49 runs off 80 balls, batting out the majority of the last 25 years. In the third-to-last over of the game, with 10 minutes of play left, Qais blocked a delivery from Taijul Islam and went down holding his left hamstring. It was evident that the Afghanistan star was trying to waste time, and the moment immediately went viral on social media. Meanwhile, Bangladesh players were evidently pleased with the actions. Interestingly, Naib's similar act had also come against Bangladesh in a match which Afghanistan won and secured a semi-final spot in an ICC event semi-final for the first time. Talking about the match, Atal made 111 runs off 333 deliveries to register the maiden Test century of his career. He also became the first player to score a fourth innings ton for Afghanistan in the longest format of the game. Meanwhile, Afghanistan skipper Rahmat Shah marked his first Test as captain with a knock of 105 in the first innings and also made 51 runs in the second. He is only the sixth male player to score a century and a half-century on captaincy debut in Test cricket. As far as Qais is concerned, he hit two sixes in the last over of the match as the two teams settled for a stalemate.
