(AP Photo/Heinz-Peter Bader) Seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in a one-sided contest to win his maiden Vienna Open title. De Minaur played well at the tournament, but every time he is up against Alcaraz or Sinner, the writing seems to be on the wall. He has lost all 13 games against Jannik Sinner and all seven matches against Alcaraz. He came to the court already looking defeated, and Alcaraz didn't have to work too hard to fetch a win. The Spaniard looked jubilant after the win and cracked a broad smile after clinching his fourth title this year. He had earlier won the Australian Open, Doha Open and more recently the Tokyo Open. He was injured at the Barcelona Open and missed four months of action, including the French Open and Wimbledon. He returned at the US Open and reached the quarterfinal. “I tried to be aggressive and show him that if he wants to win, he has to play better, more aggressively, more solid, and be smarter than me," Alcaraz said. "I’m just really happy that at the end I found my way, played great. Obviously, it has been a really emotional and amazing week for me.” De Minaur had advanced to the final of the ATP 500 event with a semifinal win against Alexander Zverev. Alcaraz, on the other hand, beat Daniil Medvedev in the other semifinal. Alcaraz will now look to win his first Masters tournament this year in Paris. With defending champion Jannik Sinner out due to injury, Alcaraz will enter the tournament as the favourite.
